Winning Child Custody Strategies for non custodial parents

What are the steps to obtaining child custody?

I would like unbiased opinions and person experiences. What does the judge consider when thinking about giving the other parent (the father, in this case) joint custody? The father currently has a restraining order against the mother since she causes the father and his family extreme mental stress. Does the judge compare financial situations? (ie. if the father is more financially stable than the mother or vice versa, do either of these situations affect the decision?) What should the father have prepared and what does he need to prove in order to gain joint custody?
No rude comments, please.
We can’t afford a lawyer, our bills, child support, etc. are way to high to afford even going out to dinner.

How does child custody work?

My boyfriend and I are splitting up. I tried to make things work for our son , but he keeps screwing up. I want to get full custody over my baby. He uses drugs and has had 2 suicidal attempts. Will they give me full custody?

Most women will say that its fair because they have the advantage. Why would any hard working responsible man want to get married into modern day slavery? It should be just as fair for the man and women equally. I guess only the person who wants it to be fair is the man who is being taken advantage of. For the person who has the advantage it is fair.

Okay I think I have everything I need, but I just need a little guidance, just to make sure. Can anyone help me?

Ok, I have a question, my husband has a child from a previous relationship. Well we have full custody of him and my husband has been paying back child support. Now the mother has passed away due to natural causes. Does my husband still owe the back child support? He is raising his son and the money was going to the mother, shouldn’t he be able to get that back support canceled? We live in Michigan. The child’s mother didn’t have any other family but the child. We just want to know what will happen to that.

Is there a way to file documents in advance so the judge has plenty of time to review them?
